Since the last two nights have been about Group B rallying, I thought that I would take things back a little bit to an era that I particularly enjoy. As the title suggests, tonight's piece is about Jim Clark. Clark was a reserved person, introverted even, but he was a hell of a driver. He shared a flat with Jackie Stewart, vacationed with Graham hill, and won the WDC twice. If you don't know about Jim Clark then you're about to learn about a driver who possibly would have been the greatest ever had he not, well, you'll see.

So, getcha popcorn and turn your phones on vibrate. Turn down the lights and turn up the volume! Welcome to the LNO Theater. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

While racing in Spa, in rainy conditions, when Clark who was coasting saw that the young Jackie Stewart was catching him up, he sped up rapidly to avoid Stewart thinking that he could catch Clark and hence speed and put himself in danger. That is the mark of a true gentleman and a champion!

My favorite anecdote is when he's honestly wondering aloud to his childhood mate "why everybody's going so slow out there" — classic.

I plan on it. It won't be as regular as it is now (1, 2 times a week max). Just trying to get it off the ground with a bit of a bang.

I love you, man. Jim Clark is one of my all-time favorite drivers, and definitely my fave if you narrow it down to Formula One drivers. To accomplish what he did during his F1 career, before the days of aerodynamic aids and on primitive tires, really took something special.

Jim Clark At The Wheel is a must read. You will learn a lot of things about the man and others too, like Colin Chapman and his fragile racecars. He was an absolute master in the wet, especially at the often partially wet and foggy Nurburgring. He was also a man among men in rally cars and other racing machines of the day.
